Matthew Joseph Jenkins' Obituary
JENKINS, Matthew Joseph, age 36, of Franklin, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.
Matthew honorably served in the United States Army and was patriotic all his life. He was well known for being a jack-of-all-trades. He built houses, did commercial and residential landscaping, and did contractor work, such as installing windows. He liked working with his hands, and if it meant he could be outside while working, that was even better. Matthew couldn’t just sit still; he was always on the go.
Kindhearted, he would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it. Known as the protector of the family, he was beyond loyal. His passion was being outdoors in nature, a survivalist at best. He loved being on the water; fishing and kayaking were among his favorite hobbies. He cherished the many shark fishing trips with his dad in Florida. In addition, he enjoyed hiking, camping, and collecting rocks and fossils. He was a foodie and enjoyed trying new things. He was a very talented artist. He did beautiful drawings and tattoo designs. His number one companion and best friend was his dog, Ino. They were inseparable and did everything together. Matthew cherished any moment he got to spend with his family and his dog.
Matthew was preceded in death by his stepfather, Harvey Hall; grandfather, John Mills; and his sister, Victoria Hall. He is survived by his son, Dominic R. Jenkins; mother, Melinda (Bill Lyons) Hall; father, Lonnie (Terrie) Jenkins; two sisters, Danielle (Robert) Brown and Nichole (Nicholas) Beanjy; one brother, Jonathon (Cassidy) Mock; grandparents, Margaret “Peggy” Mills and Margarete (Richard) Woodin; nieces and nephews, Leland Brown, Athena Brown, Jonathon Mock Jr., MeKinna Mock, Brantley Mock, Tanner Beanjy, Noah Beanjy, and Carson Beanjy; his best friend and companion, Ino; and numerous extended family members.
