Myrtle R. Whitney's Obituary
WHITNEY, Myrtle R., age 94, of Waynesville, passed away Mon. March 26, 2018 at Quaker Heights Care Community in Waynesville.
Myrtle retired from JC Penny in 1986 after more than 20 years of service. She was a faithful member of the Waynesville First Baptist Church. She had a deep faith in God and she greatly enjoyed her church life and attending Sunday School each week. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, crossword puzzles, and crafts. Mrytle was easy going, giving, had a warm heart, and was content with the things she had in her life. She was the matriarch of her family and always set a good example for them to follow. Among the many things, she will be remembered for her gift of making delicious cornbread, macaroni and cheese, and black raspberry cobbler.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, James in 2015; her parents Thomas and Jessie Morrison; two brothers; and four sisters. She is survived by three daughters Carol (Chuck) Taylor, Judy Landers, and Patti (Jimmy) Gompf; seven grandchildren Julie (Cas) Bellar, Steve (Chris) Taylor, Lori (Nathan) Powell, Lyndsey (Chad) Minnix, Brynn (Matt) Coy, Michael (Krista) Gompf, and Jon Gompf; 19 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; special friend Ethel Luedtke; and all of the friends and staff at Quaker Heights.
Funeral services will be held 1 PM Thurs. March 29 at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery, Corwin. Dale McCloud and Buddy Baker will be officiating.
