Norma Jean Pennington's Obituary
PENNINGTON, Norma Jean age 85, of Dayton, passed away Wed. Sept. 20, 2017 at Hospice of Dayton.
Jean was a faithful member of the Full Gospel Holiness Church in Miamisburg, where her husband was the pastor for many years..
She had a quiet, yet influential, personality. An excellent seamstress, she also enjoyed time with her grandchildren, fishing, cooking, and flowers-especially when the flowers came in during the springtime. Some of the most memorable moments came during the family fishing trips to Michigan and Canada, where Jean and her sister Betty would spend their time fishing and cooking big meals for the family. She will also be remembered for the special time spent with family and friends sitting under a big shade tree at Rocky Fork Lake. Above all, she was a faithful servant to the Lord.
She was preceded in death by one son Donald Keith Pennington; a great granddaughter Chloe Pennington; her parents Hobart and Alta Salyer; one brother Herman Salyer; and three sisters Neva Watson, Billie Salyer, and Okie Edwards. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Edward; son Dale (Deborah) Pennington; daughter Crystal (David) Light; seven grandchildren Wesley, Derek, Cari, Leah, Lindsey, Alicia, and Sara; 15 great grandchildren; one brother Willis (Judy) Salyer; and one sister Betty (Doyle) Roberts.
Funeral services Noon Mon. Sept. 25 at Full Gospel Holiness Church in Miamisburg. Phillip Hoskins, Floyd Carpenter, and Donnie Stanifer will be officiating. Burial will be in Miami Valley Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends 3-7 PM Sun. at the church. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home, Waynesville is serving the family.
