Oralene E. Meador's Obituary
MEADOR, Oralene E., a devout and faithful Christian, age 83, of Lebanon, passed away Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Ohio Living Quaker Heights in Waynesville.
Oralene was born March 12, 1941 to Kone and Edna Elam in Lebanon. She graduated from Waynesville High School, class of ’60. She retired as a telecommunications operator from United Telephone Company after nearly 20 years of service. With deep faith and a lifetime commitment to God, Oralene was a member of the Full Gospel Tabernacle in Waynesville for many years. In recent years, she has been attending Liberty Worship Center in Xenia with her son and family.
Sweet, kind, happy, and always positive, Oralene was extremely family-oriented and lived to care for her loved ones and to serve the Lord. Her favorite hobbies included attending church and church activities, spending time with her grandchildren, and going out to eat. She often looked forward to going out to dinner and usually planned the dinner location early in her day. Her favorite restaurants include the Houston Inn, fish dinners at Long John Silver, and the Bloomin’ Onions at Outback Steakhouse. She was an excellent cook and will always be revered for her cranberry salad at Thanksgiving, macaroni salad fresh from the stove, and especially her potato salad, which was always requested at church events and holiday get-togethers. She also enjoyed word search books and would often work through them quickly.
Oralene hosted Easter dinner at her home, which became a fond family tradition. In addition, she invited her church friends, family, friends, and just about anyone she could think of to her house during the 4th of July to watch the Lebanon fireworks from her backyard. She looked forward to the fireworks and loved having everyone over each year. Among many things, she will be remembered for her dedication to God through prayer, her ability always to cheer up others during visits, and her immense collection of cookbooks.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Willam “Toy” Meador; her son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Becky Meador; two grandchildren, Jadah Madalyn and Jonah Kone Meador; and her sisters, twin Darlene Long and Carolyn (Ray) Smith.
The family will receive friends from 11 AM - 1 PM on Thursday, September 12, at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 1 PM on Thursday at the funeral home. Michael Sprouse and Paul Dameron will be officiating the services. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery, Corwin. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
