Otis R. Schatzer Jr.'s Obituary
SCHATZER, Otis R.. Jr., age 75, of Waynesville and formerly of Lebanon, passed away into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior Friday, October 21, 2022, after a long illness.
Otis honorably served in the United States Marine Corps for 8 1/2 years. He retired as a computer programmer from LexisNexis after 20 years of service to the company.
Gentle and loving, Otis had a great sense of humor. He greatly enjoyed camping with his wife, Nickie, especially with his children and grandchildren. Through the years, their favorite camping destinations included local campgrounds, up to Michigan, and Myrtle Beach in South Carolina. He also enjoyed traveling to Florida for many years to visit his parents-in-law in Venice. Among many things, Otis will be remembered for how much he loved Christmas. He collected Santa Claus items and would always decorate his home to accentuate the importance of Old Saint Nick. He especially loved the 50s and 60’s plastic Santas, which he placed along with several other items in his front yard each year. Throughout his life, he was always the proudest of his time in military service and his relationship with his sons.
He was preceded in death by one son, Michael Schatzer, and his parents, Otis Schatzer and Meta Cody. He is survived by his loving wife of 40+ years, Nickie; two sons, Karl (Miranda) Schatzer and Robert Schatzer; two grandchildren, Le’Etta Schatzer and Easton Schatzer; one grandchild on the way; and two brothers, Richard Schatzer and Carl (Gail) Schatzer.
