Patricia M. Johnson's Obituary
JOHNSON, Patricia M., age 86, of Waynesville, passed away Sun. Sept. 23, 2018 at Quaker Heights Care Community in Waynesville.
Patricia graduated from Spring Valley High School, class of ’50. She retired from Wayne Local Schools after working as a cook for approximately 20 years. She was a faithful member of Crossview Christian Church in Waynesville.
Very loving, yet strong willed and outspoken at times, Patricia was very self-sacrificing and would often put others before herself. She was the primary caregiver for several family members over the years, and also spent some time babysitting for her family. She enjoyed the privilege of moving into a new home every few years, when her husband built a new one. She also enjoyed her church activities, quilting, trips to watch her grandchildren and great grandchildren in sports, Rice Krispy squares, and cooking. She will especially be remembered for her excellent chicken & noodles, potato salad, and fried fish and mushrooms, brought home by her husband during his outings. She lived 10 years with Gail and Bo Bradley before ultimately moving into Quaker Heights Care Community. During her stay at Quaker Heights, she greatly enjoyed crafts and Bingo. She could be very competitive during their Bingo games.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean, in 1992; four grandchildren Liam, Heath, Amelia, and an infant; son-in-law Clinton Elam; her parents Henry and Ruth Kersey; brother and sister-in-law Sonny and Becky Kersey. She is survived by four children Gary (Trecia) Johnson, Gail Bradley, Susie Elam, and David Johnson; 11 grandchildren Matt (Jennifer) Johnson, Adam Johnson, Jerrod (Margie) Bradley, Jason (Jennifer) Bradley, Joe (Jessica) Bradley, Randy (Blair) Robbins, Casey (Jeanne) Elam, Angie (Bruce) Weyer, Richie (Melanie) Elam, Emily (Phil) Thoms, and Jeremy (Renee) Johnson; 21 great grandchildren; two brothers Stanley (Connie) Kersey and Wayne Kersey; and one sister Louise Holton.
Funeral services will be held 1 PM Thurs. Sept. 27 at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery, Corwin. Rev. Hugh Hurley will be officiating the service. The family will receive friends 11 AM - 1 PM Thurs. at the funeral home.
