Patricia Richard's Obituary
RICHARD, Patricia, age 95, of Waynesville, and formerly of Centerville, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2024, at Ohio Living Quaker Heights.
Patricia was a devoted homemaker and cherished the years spent at home caring for her children. Sweet, caring, and giving, Patricia was a natural provider. She took pride in cooking and was known especially for her homemade noodles as well as her orange cookies. She enjoyed knitting and needlepoint, often giving her creations to family and friends. Patricia had a wonderful sense of humor, loved to laugh, and maintained a light-hearted attitude. As the family expanded, she found great joy in her role as grandmother and great-grandmother. Patricia and her husband, Squire, created special memories while traveling and regularly visited Mackinac Island, but her most treasured moments were those spent at home with family. She had a strong relationship with God, most recently attending Fairhaven Church in Centerville. In her spare time, Patricia appreciated the challenge of crossword puzzles and was an enthusiastic reader, particularly fond of Jan Karon novels. Among many things, Patricia will be remembered for her favorite quote, “There is nothing more refreshing than the other side of the pillow!”
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, James Lowell “Squire” Richard; her baby daughter, Sallie Marie; her parents, Charles and Pearl Mahaffey; two brothers, Jim Mahaffey and Bob Mahaffey; and one sister, Ruthie Rojewski. She is survived by three sons, Dr. J. Randall (De) Richard of Greenwich, OH, Marc (Julie) Richard of Centerville, OH, and John (Karen) Richard of Lebanon, OH; one daughter, Susan (Jake) Mitchell of Waynesville, OH; 14 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, October 26, at Miami Cemetery in Corwin. The family invites friends and family to gather 30 minutes prior to the graveside service for social time prior to the graveside service at the cemetery. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home is serving the family. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
