Paul A. Brothers' Obituary
BROTHERS, Paul A., age 77, of Waynesville, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at his residence with his family by his side.
Paul graduated from Clinton Massie High School, class of ’65. He proudly served in the United States Army, specifically the Honor Guard. He was hard-working and has owned and operated Brothers Construction and Paul Brothers Paving, Excavators, and Sealing for many years. He was the founder and later an elder of the Fellowship of Praise church in Clarksville.
Family-oriented, giving, helpful, loving, caring, witty, and independent, Paul lived his life with determination toward business, family, and bringing people to the Lord. He was a visionary toward business opportunities and could see value in properties and people. While his work ethic rarely left time for many hobbies, he had a passion for horses. He often attended horse auctions to add to his herd. Breeding and caring for horses became a pursuit he greatly enjoyed. He had a soft heart toward the newborn foals and loved watching them grow into beautiful, majestic animals to grace his farm. In addition, Paul always loved starting projects, building, and woodworking around his home. In addition, he enjoyed playing cards, specifically Phase 10 and Euchre, with family and riding his golf cart around his property. He always appreciated Civil War history and often took opportunities to advance his Civil War intelligence.
Paul enjoyed frequent trips back to West Virginia to visit family, especially during his earlier years. Taking his wife to visit Amish Country and family trips to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge also became fond traditions. The family trips to Gatlinburg spanned nearly 50 years and became some of his best memories with his family. Many years ago, Paul surprised his wife with a trip to Niagara Falls, which became another fond memory. Among many things, he will be remembered for how much he enjoyed the time he took to admire his horses in the field and his collection of horse sleighs and buggies. In addition, how he loved hosting pastors, missionaries, family, and friends at his home will always be remembered as one of his best qualities.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jessica; his parents, Kenneth and Mary Loraine Brothers; and three brothers, James, Edward, and David Brothers. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara; three daughters, Debbie McCulloch, Bobbi (Pastor Matt) Morgan, and Tammi (Troy) LeMond; one son, Jason Brothers; ten grandchildren, Mandi, Megan, and Mariah McCulloch, Moriah (Treg) Logsdon, Nathan (Emily), Madison, and Chloe Morgan, Cecily (Blake) Huskey, and Austin (Brianna) and Devin (Abby) Boyd; eight great-grandchildren, Luca, Audrina, Gia, Ellie, Ashtin, Aven, Finnley, and Palmer; one great-grandchild on the way; and one sister, Patty (Rusty) Leyes.
The family will receive friends from 11 AM - 1 PM on Saturday, February 24, at Fellowship of Praise in Clarksville. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Saturday, February 24, at the church. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery, Corwin. Pastor Matt Morgan and Pastor Johnny Hocker will be officiating the services. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family.
