Peggy Jo Bradley's Obituary
BRADLEY, Peggy Jo, age 84, of Waynesville, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2023. She was born June 7, 1939, to Milo and Nellie Miltenburger in Clearcreek Township.
Peggy graduated from Waynesville High School, class of ’57. After high school, she worked at NCR as a supervisor for many years. She ultimately decided to leave work to stay home and raise her children. While the kids were growing up, Peggy volunteered in several child focus groups, most notably as a homeroom mom and in the PTO. Of course, she never missed an event or a competition in which her children were involved.
She was a member of Heritage Christian Church in Bellbrook. She was formerly active at Crossview Christian Church in Waynesville, where she assisted with their Wednesday night dinners. In addition, she was one of the early volunteers in their successful Tuesday School preschool program. Peggy was also a highly supportive member of the Cradles to College program.
Sweet, giving, humble, loving, and selfless, Peggy was devoted to her family, friends, and community. She had a welcoming spirit, which showed in her willing attitude toward hosting family gatherings and community events. Peggy and her husband, Jerry, often allowed others to use their property for events such as parties and receptions. They even let the school park its buses in her yard yearly while the school hosted the annual Country Fair.
Peggy’s hobbies included vegetable and flower gardening, crocheting, and cooking. She especially loved canning the vegetables from the garden each year. While everything she cooked was delicious and special, she will be especially remembered for her chicken and dumplings, apple pies made from the apple trees in the yard, and her Sunday dinner pot roasts. She took great pride in remodeling and enhancing the beauty of her home over the years. Specifically, almost every wood accent within their home was stripped and restored to enhance the beauty of the natural wood. During her later years, she became the family caretaker for the grandkids, which gave her immense pleasure.
Peggy took pride in establishing traditions around family values. While Jerry worked in the western states, Peggy and the kids would travel with him for scenic trips. Among the many places they visited during those years, it became a tradition to visit Colorado, Arizona, and even Hawaii a couple of times. Holiday traditions were very important to Peggy. For many years, she and Jerry hosted Thanksgiving at their home with both sides of their families. The entire family enjoys reminiscing about those Thanksgivings at the Bradley home.
Among many things, Peggy will be remembered for her hospitality when family and friends visited, for her love of hummingbirds, and of course, for how much she loved her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, in October of last year and by her parents. She is survived by her son, Jeff Bradley (Ken Halsne); daughter, Jodee (Philip) Ball; five grandchildren, Allyson (Jayson) Barnes, Christopher and Alyssa Bradley, and Carson and Kendra Ball; two great-grandchildren, Kash and Remi; two brothers, Jon (Janice) Miltenberger and Tim (Evelyn) Miltenberger; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday, July 11, at Heritage Christian Church in Bellbrook. Burial will be in Miami Valley Memory Gardens. Pastor David Ladd will be officiating the services. The family will receive friends 10 AM - 12 PM Tuesday at the church. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. If desired, contributions may be made toward the Tuesday School program at Heritage Christian Church. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
