Ralph A. Simmons' Obituary
SIMMONS, Ralph A., age 90, of Waynesville, passed away Tues. Aug. 6, 2019 at Kettering Hospital.
Ralph retired from Frigidaire in 1976 after 30 years of service. He also owned and managed several rental properties throughout the Miami Valley and in Tennessee. He was a long-time member and deacon of the First Baptist Church in Waynesville. His church and his faith were always very important to him throughout his life.
Hard working and business minded, Ralph enjoyed being busy. He had a larger than life personality and was a great story teller. He also enjoyed watching his garden grow, country music, dancing, and family trips back to his hometown in Tennessee. Among the many things, he will be remembered for the enduring love he had for his wife.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred, in 2009; a daughter Brenda Mills; his parents Leonard and Beatrice Simmons; two brothers Harold and Dean Simmons; and two sisters Jean Cottrell and Clara Simmons. He is survived by two sons Lanney (Joy) Simmons and Richard Simmons; daughter Debbie (Randy) Church; six grandchildren Angela Simmons, Renee (Chip) Wieczorek, Andrew (McKenzie) Simmons, Alex Simmons, Chrystal (Brian) Robinson, and Brad Pursley; six great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 5-8 PM (EDT) Fri. Aug. 9 at the First Baptist Church in Waynesville. Funeral services will be held 2 PM (EDT) Sat. Aug. 10 at the First Baptist Church in Waynesville. Roger Dale McCloud will be officiating the services. Two days later in Pikeville, Tennessee, the family will be receiving friends 10 AM - 12 PM (CDT) Mon. Aug. 12, followed by an additional funeral service at 12 PM (CDT) at Pikeville Funeral Home. Burial will be in Frazier Cemetery, Pikeville. If desired, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
