Raymon Dale Watkins' Obituary
WATKINS, Raymon Dale, age 90, of Waynesville, passed away Sun. Sept. 23, 2018 at his residence.
Dale was a 1945 graduate of Waynesville High School. He spent the first 30 years of his work life working on his family farm. Thereafter, he worked 13 years at NCR and officially retired in 1990 after approximately 20 years at GM.
With a strong work ethic, Dale was a determined, strong willed, humble, and independent gentleman that lived his life with detailed organization. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to others and greatly enjoyed gardening, yard work, and being outdoors. During his younger days, he would meticulously plan an annual vacation for the family, complete with AAA TripTics and a cooler filled with meals and snacks for the drive. He also looked forward to a yearly fishing trip to Lake Erie with a buddy. He will be remembered for his trademark daily attire which included work pants, a white t-shirt, and suspenders.
He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Gertrude Watkins; two brothers Nelson and Donald Watkins; and five sisters Lillian Fox, Nellie Miltenberger, Anna Mae Malcolm, Frances Conner, and Esther Kidd. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Georgia; two daughters Ramona (Freddie) Leal and Janice (Alan) Yarbrough; six grandchildren Mandy Morris, Cody Morris, Stephanie (Ritchie) Gracino, Shanita Yarbrough, Zechariah Leal, and Skyler Leal; three great grandchildren Waylon Morris, Jakeem Yarbrough, and Amelie Gracino; and close friend Billy Ralston.
A celebration of life service will be held 7 PM Wed. Sept. 26 at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Freddie Leal will be officiating the service.
