Raymond Blair's Obituary
BLAIR, Raymond, age 84, of Waynesville, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Hospice of Cincinnati in Blue Ash.
Raymond proudly and honorably served in the United States Navy for 21 years until his retirement in 1978. Always wanting to keep busy, he studied computer programming and worked for Champion International Paper in Hamilton where he retired after 10 years of service.
Happy, kind, and friendly to everyone, Raymond greatly enjoyed helping others. He was quite handy and enjoyed building and remodeling work, even building two homes for his family. He also enjoyed gardening. The springtime was his favorite time of the year because it meant getting outside and planting vegetables in his garden. He loved watching college basketball and especially March Madness. He was also a big OSU fan. The time he spent living in the Philippines, Cuba, Virginia Beach, San Diego, and Florida during his time in the Navy gave him some of his fondest memories. He returned home to the Waynesville area in 1980 to live out his life in the country. He loved the farming community and wanted to be closer to family. Among many things, he will be remembered for was his love of his Allis Chambers tractor and his dogs.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Mildred Ann Simpson, in 2018; one granddaughter, Ashley; and one brother David. He is survived by his daughter Michelle (Todd) Fairchild; son Raymond “Greg” Blair; granddaughter Candice; three brothers Jerry, Norman, and Fred; and two sisters Donna and Janet.
A graveside service will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, January 9 at Miami Cemetery in Corwin. Katie Mackoway, celebrant. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. If desired, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
