Raymond "Wildman" Stanley Walters' Obituary
WALTERS, Raymond Stanley “Wildman,” age 66, of Waynesville, passed away Saturday, September 2, 2023.
Raymond worked in construction for over 50 years. As a child, he attended Sunday School at Corwin Pentecostal Church. He was a lifetime member of the Waynesville’s Sons of the American Legion Post 615. He was very active with the Legion Family and participated in community projects. For years, he was a bowling league member, helped with the Waynesville Fourth of July fireworks, and was a devoted member who assisted with the Waynesville Area Wide Christmas Baskets Project.
He was a unique individual with a wealth of information and would do anything for anyone. His family was everything, and he constantly looked forward to different events with them. He enjoyed fishing and deer hunting, not necessarily for the thrill of the hunt but more for the companionship with his family. He had a huge heart and was a friend to many people. Every Christmas Eve, he would stay the night with his son and spend Christmas morning with his family. During Christmas, he would also have dinner with his extended family. He was very close to his two grandsons, who were always seen together. He was a collector of everything. He enjoyed antiques, Longaberger baskets, and roses. His favorite companion was his dog, Bo Jack. Raymond was always on the go, but he consistently took the time to answer his phone every time it rang. He enjoyed cooking and was well-known for several dishes. The family favorites included barbeque chicken, deer meat, soup beans and cornbread, and meatloaf. Among many things, he will be remembered for always wearing a bandana, being a strong leader, being the best companion, and paving the way with knowledge on various topics for those around him, teaching them a lot.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Carol Walters, and one brother, Thomas (Linda) Walters. He is survived by his son, Marcus (Alyssa) Walters; two grandchildren, Tucker (Brianna) Mollenkamp and Tyler David Walters; two brothers, Jim Walters and Dana Walters; four sisters, Linda Renner, Barbara Mason, Marla Walters, and Carol (Jim) Nelson; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, at Corwin Pentecostal Church. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery in Corwin. Wendall Lamb will be officiating the services. The family will receive friends 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Clark State Community College- Athletics Department for the baseball team.
