Robert "Bob" Watrous' Obituary
Watrous, Robert “Bob,” age 81, of Waynesville and formerly of East Brunswick, New Jersey, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Southview Hospital.
Bob graduated from Schalmont High School, NY, and attended Middlesex County College in New Jersey. He was a member of Corwin Town Council for three years, as well as a member of the Dayton Pipe Club. He honorably served in the United States Navy. He retired in 2002 as the Director of World Wide Education after 26 years.
A loving husband and father, he would do anything for anyone in need. He had a great sense of humor, but you needed to understand his dry wit to understand who Bob was. He was a feminist at heart who enjoyed archeology and tending to his flower and vegetable gardens. He was an avid reader who easily read three to four books each week. History always fascinated him. He treasured anything he could get his hands on, especially the classics. Having family dinners, each Sunday was important to him. He looked forward to having the family all together. He was very proud that he came from poverty and worked his way up to the middle class. For 57 years, he made it a tradition to bring flowers to his wife every week of their marriage. Among many things, he dearly loved his wife and children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles (Rose) Watrous, and three brothers, David, Harry, and George Watrous. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patricia “Pat”; two daughters, Deborah (Steven) Yurkunas and Deanne (Raymond) Otto; grandson Wm. Shea Yurkunas; and two sisters, Caroline (William) Mioducki and Ellen (Robert) Bernritter.
