Robert "Bob" H. Lucas' Obituary
LUCAS, Robert “Bob” H., age 80, of Waynesville, passed away Friday, September 1, 2023, at Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton.
Bob graduated from Waynesville High School, class of ’61, and studied business at the University of Dayton. He was a lifelong farmer and became widely respected for the quality of his work in agriculture. Specifically, he was well known for how meticulous he kept his farm equipment, his care and generosity to his employees, and his humble personality. In addition, he sold grain for DEKALB and Asgrow Seed to area farmers for many years.
Hardworking, caring, outgoing, and highly family-oriented, Bob was helpful and giving to his family and friends. In his younger days, he greatly enjoyed playing softball in both coed and men’s leagues with his wife. He also enjoyed playing golf, which also involved playing in coed and men’s leagues. He loved attending old car and tractor shows, often displaying some of his favorite antique tractors. Although he recently sold all of his tractors, at one time, he had quite a collection of antique and model tractors that he admired. Traveling was a tradition that Bob loved over the years, especially when it involved spending time with his family. He dedicated several months every year to life in some of the nation’s favorite leisure destinations. He visited Branson in Missouri every year, spent winters in Scottsdale, Arizona, and usually visited Breckenridge, Colorado, Hilton Head, South Carolina, and Palm Desert, California, each year. Among many things, he will be remembered for how much he enjoyed dining out with family and friends, especially his favorite restaurant - The Paragon Supper Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Heber and Bernice Lucas, and his brother-in-law, Richard Ball. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Charlotte; three children, Michelle (Greg) Lucas-Kinnes, Robert “Bobby” (Robin) Lucas, and Mark (Heather) Lucas; five grandchildren, Dakota (fianceé Kristin) Kinnes, Cheyenne Kinnes, Findley Lucas, Graham Lucas, and Cole Lucas; one brother, Jim Lucas; and one sister, Pat Ball.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 6, at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Burial will be in Miami Valley Memory Gardens. Pastor Brian Blankenship will be officiating the services. The family will receive friends 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
