COKER, Roger T., age 87, of Waynesville, passed away Monday, March 6, 2023, at Otterbein Senior Living in Lebanon, where he had lived with his wife, Joanne, since May 2020. Roger honorably served in the United States Army from 19 Read Obituary
Roger was my uncle, always seated to my right at Anderson holiday meals, with his trusty can of beer. It wouldn't be long after that Roger would be stretched out for a nap in the recliner, having enjoyed whatever meal Grandma had cooked up. Visiting Aunt Jo and Uncle Roger growing up was always a treat. We got to see the dogs and check out all the treasures in the antique shop. I will miss him and we all wish we could have made it to the service.
The last time I visited Roger I asked why he always "dented" his can of beer? For years when we would visit and have a beer Roger always "dented" his can. I never knew why and never asked until recently. He went into Roger story telling mode and gave a 20 minute hilarious rendition of why he "dented" his beer can. It was so Roger like; funny, insightful and meaningful. Roger knew how to tell a story. We will miss our good friend.

When Vince shot himself in the finger with a 22 caliber; being the competitive man Roger was, he had to outdo Vince by shooting himself in the finger with a 9mm. We will miss you, Roger. 💕

Roger stripped and refinished our front door at the funeral home. It turned out perfect. He was a professional to say the least. I am so glad he and Joanne chose Waynesville to live for so many years as they both were great assets to our community. He will be missed.
What a life well lived! Peace Lutheran sports a beautiful media space created by Roger as well as a wood space for donations for our various charities. Thank you for your service-both military and civilian! I consider it a blessing to have know him. Heaven has gained an angel.
