Ron M. Gilbert's Obituary
GILBERT, Ron M., a giving, unselfish, and likable gentleman, age 68, of Lebanon, passed away Thursday, October 22, 2020 at his residence.
Ron graduated from Lebanon High School, class of ‘70. He found great joy in driving his semi-truck for Dayton Freight, where he retired after 25 years of service. Over the years, he attended the Corwin Pentecostal Church.
Family oriented and always busy doing something, Ron put his family and others before himself. He had a quiet but strong personality, and when spoken to he had lots of wisdom to share. He also liked keeping his mind engaged and was very active and fun to be around. He loved being outside and was a true outdoorsman. His outdoor hobbies included working in his vegetable garden, canoeing, horseback riding, and riding bikes. He picked up the hobby of archery and taught his granddaughter how to shoot a bb gun. When he was stuck indoors, you could find him watching the old black and white movies, Little House on the Praire, Andy Griffith, or the Three Stooges. Among many things, he will be remembered for his passion of music and his love of playing the banjo and guitar, which he played by ear.
He was preceded in death by his father Alex Gilbert. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Pamela; son Travis Gilbert; daughter Alicia Gilbert; one granddaughter Lexie Heinlein; his mother Christine Elkins; three brothers Glen (Janet) Gilbert, Bobby (Angie) Gilbert, and Billy (Virginia) Gilbert; his mother-in-law Wanda Cox; and sister-in-law Kimberly (Darrell) McKinney.
A funeral service will be held 12 pm Monday, October 26 at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Life Celebrant Katie Mackoway will be officiating. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery in Corwin.
