Ronald "Ronnie" "Ron" Lorn Hitchcock's Obituary
Hitchcock, Ronald “Ronnie” “Ron” Lorn, of Lebanon, Ohio, was born on February 4, 1959, and passed away peacefully on October 20, 2024.
He was born in Dayton to John Jr. and Della Mae Hall-Hitchcock. As a child, he attended the Southern Baptist Church in South Lebanon with his family. He graduated from Lebanon High School/Warren County Career Center in 1977.
First a Cub Scout, then a Boy Scout, Ronnie proudly earned scouting’s highest award, Eagle Scout. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army after serving in Ft. Knox (Kentucky), Ft. Lewis (Washington), and Germany. Later he worked at Swift Printing Service in Blue Ash as a press operator and as an electrician, often helpfully doing repairs for friends and relatives.
He had a passion for fishing and loved Nolan Lake, Caesar Creek, and Lake Cumberland. Not only a fisherman, Ronnie also enjoyed hunting, mainly squirrels and rabbits. He was an avid bowler and won many awards, including the “11 in a Row” award from the American Bowling Congress (ABC) in 1992. A lifelong loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Ronnie built an extensive collection of memorabilia as he rooted for the team—even when they struggled.
Ronnie always looked forward to the holidays when all the family and friends would come around. Christmas was his favorite. His goal was to find the tallest Christmas tree, usually 12 feet tall! After stringing the lights, he loved to “hide the pickle” and see who would find it first.
After his father passed away, he was his mother’s primary caregiver following her Alzheimer’s diagnosis. He tended to her with loving care and always made sure she had everything she needed. In 2013, Ronnie was awarded the “Caregiver of the Year Award” from the Council on Aging. In tribute to his parents, he helped raise awareness and funds for both Alzheimer's and Hospice, encouraging everyone to get involved in the related walks in the area. Ronnie loved his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Jr and Della Mae Hitchcock; brother-in-law, Bill Davis; and sister, Diana Davis. He is survived by his significant other, Crystal Thompson; her two daughters, Sonya Wright and LaDonya Fitzgerald; six grandchildren, Izabella, Heaven, Kindrick, Cirra, Alex, and R.J.; two brothers, Danny (Becky) Hitchcock and Johnny (Debbie) Hitchcock; two sisters, Karen (Bill) Fox and Sheila (John) O’Brien; one uncle; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his two dogs, Sassy and Pooh.
The family will receive friends from 11 AM –1 PM on Saturday, November 9, at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. A celebration of life service will be held at 1 PM at the funeral home. Immediately following the service, a burial with military honors will be held at Lebanon Cemetery. If desired, contributions can be made toward the funeral expenses.
The family would like to thank Corporal Wendi J. Blaha and Officer Kevin J. Hall of the Clearcreek Township Police Department, and the staff at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home for their kindness and professionalism. Online condolences may be made at www.stubbsconner.com
