Ronnie Murphy's Obituary
MURPHY, Ronnie age 66, of Wilmington passed away Mon. Aug. 25, 2014. Born Aug. 26, 1947 to R.E. and Arrean Murphy in Mt. Sterling, KY. Ronnie retired from GM after 31 years of service and a second time from General Engine Product in Franklin after 13 additional years of service. He was the founder, lead singer, and bass player for The Muddy River Band, and along with his wife they performed and ran the sound for festivals, traveling nationally in the 70's, 80's, and 90's and locally since. He was a long standing member of the IBMA and greatly enjoyed playing bluegrass music and bluegrass festivals. He was also a member of the West Carrollton Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, and the Friendship Chapter 245 of Royal Arch Masons. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 40 years, Lora ( Dorn), son Lukas Patrick Murphy (Jeffrey Gillispie) of Georgetown, KY, daughter Molly P. (Aaron) Gilbert of Springboro, and granddaughter Nyla Gilbert. Funeral services 11 AM Thurs. Aug. 28 at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home, Waynesville. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery, Corwin.
