Rose "Marie" Moore's Obituary
MOORE, Rose “Marie”, age 74, of Waynesville, passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at her residence with family by her side.
Marie worked for more than 20 years in the alterations department at David’s Bridal. She retired in 2019 as the alteration manager but continued to work off and on until recent days.
Marie had deep faith in God and was an active member of Heritage Christian Church in Bellbrook. Among many church activities, she greatly enjoyed attending Sunday School each week. Formerly, she attended Crossview Christian Church in Waynesville, where she participated in Bible study groups and volunteered for over 10 years with their Tuesday School program.
Giving, caring, loving, and thoughtful, Marie was well-known for her talent as a seamstress. In addition to her work at David’s Bridal, she assisted local brides with their wedding dresses, performed alterations, and became known for her talent in creating teddy bears from the clothing of those who had recently passed away, which she provided through the local funeral home. In addition to having immense talent with needle and thread, she will be remembered for having an artistic eye, always providing something special with each of her projects. Marie will also be remembered for her cooking and baking, especially her homemade bread. In addition to making banana nut bread, she was known for adding blueberries, cinnamon, lemon, peach, Junior Mints, Reese’s Cups, chocolate, zucchini, and other ingredients. In addition to giving away her delicious bread as gifts during Christmas and birthdays, she always made it her purpose to share it with friends, family, her church family, and just about anyone she wanted to show love to. She also became known in recent years to show up at doctor visits with bread to share with her caregivers. Marie’s family will never forget Marie’s chicken and dumplings, biscuits and gravy, and breakfast sandwiches for the grandkids, made from either pancakes or donuts as the bread, filled with bacon or sausage, cheese, and eggs. Her other hobbies included playing Facebook games and staying in touch with friends and family through social media. Back during the days when Beanie Babies were popular, Marie loved traveling around in search of some of the more popular ones. However, throughout her life, she enjoyed collecting angels. Among many things, Marie will be remembered for her love of family and her deep faith in God.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mindy Mayfield; her parents, James Mayford and Ora Lee McComas; one brother, David McComas; and one sister, Brenda Fisher.
