Roxie C. Leyes' Obituary
LEYES, Roxie C., age 81, of Lebanon, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2020 at her residence.
Roxie was born April 17, 1939 to Orville and Alma Medley in Waynesville. She graduated from Harveysburg High School, class of ’57. She retired from Cincinnati Electronics as a supervisor and lab technician in 2002 after 34 years of dedicated service to the company. She was a member of Fellowship of Praise in Clarksville.
Roxie greatly enjoyed quilting, working jigsaw and word puzzles, reading, and flower gardening. She looked forward to the spring time each year when she could run out and purchase new pots and plants to create beautiful floral arrangements for the exterior of her home. Succulents were some of her favorite plants to buy each year. She was well known for her cooking, especially for pecan pies, carrot cake, and peanut butter fudge for Christmas. It was her pie crusts that everyone talked about, and the recipe of which everyone requested. During the holidays, she took great pride in cooking for the family, always cooking enough for plenty of leftovers. She collected glassware, knick knacks, and antique tea cups. She also enjoyed visiting the casinos a few times a year, but never wanting to gamble beyond the penny slot machines. When her children were young, they created fond memories during the many camping and fishing trips to Rocky Fork Lake and other weekend destinations. Trips to Amish Country in Philadelphia, St. Augustine in Florida and Myrtle Beach in South Carolina will always be remembered as some of the best family memories from years ago. Among many things however, she will be especially remembered for how much she cared for her kids and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Curtis Medley, and recently by daughter-in-law Cheri Leyes. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, John; three children Robyn Leyes, Chris Leyes, and Andrea Leyes (Mike Samendinger); seven grandchildren Susan Tuggle, Jennifer Joyce, Kenley (Patrick) MacLeod, Gabriel (Jenny) Street, Ryan (Adrian) Street, Jessica (Ryan) Silver, and Kirsten (Jared) Jones; 11 great grandchildren Harley, Paige, Amane, Abram, Phoenix, Tegan, Carter, Collin, Owen, Ayden, Dylan, and Landen; two great great grandchildren; two brothers William (Theresa) Medley and Douglas (Leah) Medley; and sister Marilyn Willis.
Funeral services will be held 1 PM Tuesday, December 29 at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery, Corwin, OH. The family will receive friends 5 -8 PM Monday at the funeral home.
