Samuel C. Haltom's Obituary
HALTOM, Samuel C., age 88, of South Lebanon, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2025.
Sam honorably served 21 years in the United States Army and National Guard. During his time in the Army, he served in South Korea during the Korean Conflict. Following a full career in the military, he worked as the Head Custodian for Mason High School for more than 20 years as well as owning and maintaining rental properties and owned businesses that he and his wife worked together.
Family-oriented, loving, caring, kind, and gentle, Sam referred to himself as an ole country boy and was quite the handyman and could fix anything. Always fond of nature and water, Sam loved swimming in the backyard pool and visiting the ocean. He often spent time fishing by the river and listening to the sound of nature. He enjoyed traveling with his family as well as going to festivals, amusement parks and flea markets.
Sam also loved being at home. Always a devout Christian, he read the Bible regularly. He enjoyed reading comic books and historical literature. He loved watching TV and movies, with westerns featuring John Wayne or Roy Rogers being his favorites.
He loved the holidays, especially carving the turkey at Thanksgiving and decorating at Christmas. During the holidays, you could count on him entertaining the younger kids and acting like a big kid himself. One Christmas, he purchased Walkie Talkies to enjoy with the kids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Klee and Mary Haltom; son-in-law, Darren Green; two brothers, Maynard and Jerry Haltom; two sisters, Janet Joy and Mildred Muennich. He is survived by his loving wife Sun Yeo; daughters, Jo Ann (George) Kirby, Jan Green and Gail Haltom; grandchildren, Whitney (Tim) Hartman, Benjamin (Katie) Kirby, Tia Colwell and Forest Colwell; great-grandchildren, Jaesun, Zadie, and Sophia; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.
The family will receive friends 5 - 7 PM Monday, May 5, at the Full Gospel Church of God in Lebanon. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, May 6, at the church with Pastor Sammy Reed officiating. Burial will be in Deerfield Cemetery, Union Township. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
