Sharon L. Couch's Obituary
COUCH, Sharon L., outgoing, family-oriented, loving, and caring, age 79, of Waynesville, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2020 at her residence. She was born September 21, 1940 to Earl and Rose Hodges in Dumas, Mississippi.
Sharon retired from KeyBank in Centerville and Bellbrook in 2007 after more than 20 years of service. She was a member of the Waynesville First Baptist Church, greatly enjoying her volunteer work with the AWANA’s program and the nursery for many years.
Sharon loved talking to people and did not know a stranger. She especially loved kids and spending time with her grandchildren. She greatly enjoyed shopping for a deal, with Elder Beerman being her go-to shopping destination. She also enjoyed traveling with her sister and family over the years, always exploring a different location. Destinations in Florida were her favorite places to visit. She was a big fan of the Cincinnati Bengals and Reds, and always looked forward to attending Reds games with her son, Brad. She collected an assortment of intricate things, but antique items and Longaberger baskets were always a priority, traveling several times over the years to visit the Longaberger factory in Dresden, Ohio with friends and family. Being raised in Mississippi, sweet tea became a favorite of her’s over the years, and she would almost always offer her house guests a glass of her particular brew. Among many things, she will be especially remembered for how much she loved the holidays. The way in which she went all-out decorating for every holiday, making her home warm and inviting in the spirit of each holiday, and a place where family always felt special will aways be cherished memories.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers Lynwood, Jimmy, and Ronald Hodges; and three sisters Edna Sue Hardy, Deanie Hughey, and Evelyn Jackson. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Mitchel; four sons Mike (Mary) Couch, Zeke (Sheila) Couch, Brad (Melanie) Couch, and Dwayne (Tina) Couch; 11 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and two brothers Eddie (Mary Kay) Hodges and Charles Hodges.
