Sharon Lucille Dakin's Obituary
DAKIN, Sharon Lucille, age 77, of Waynesville, passed away Thursday, September 4, 2025, peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones.
Sharon was a hairdresser for 30 years. Additionally, she served as a caregiver for the MRDD group homes in Waynesville for several years. She was a member of the Waynesville American Legion Auxiliary Unit 615, where she served as a historian for several years. She was a long-time member of Waynesville First Baptist Church and has recently been attending Family Life Church in Lebanon.
She loved to paint, especially using the textiles of canvas and oil. She had a green thumb and could create beautiful fairy gardens, and taking care of bonsai was her specialty. She was a fantastic cook and was well known for her sweet potato casserole. Thanksgiving was always a big event that she looked forward to. She loved Christmas and would always make homemade buckeye balls and hard candy to share with her loved ones. With a heart the size of Texas, Sharon made sure her family came first. She was selfless, caring, and loving, and beyond generous. She would give you the shirt off her back to help someone else. Shopping was a passion of hers; she loved the home shopping network on TV. Her favorite items to purchase were jewelry, and over the years, she had acquired quite a collection.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ernest, in 2020; her parents, Samuel McGlothin and Hilda Hunter; and her sister, Jackie Barnett. She is survived by three sons, Stan (Laura) Jordan, Sean (Mary) Jordan, and Matthew Dakin; one daughter, Angila Dakin; nine grandchildren, Caitlin Jordan, Megan (Alex) Becker, Grace (Jermiah) Harbison, Mya Jordan, Savannah Jordan, Marshawn Allen, and Adam Dakin; two great-grandchildren Tristan and Jacob; one sister, Patricia “Patty” (Tom) Radank; one step-brother Gary Martin.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, September 12, at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Pastor Gary Amburgy Sr. will be officiating the service. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery, Corwin. The family will receive friends from 10 AM to 11 AM on Friday at the funeral home. If desired, contributions may be made to the Queen City Hospice.
