Bob, Hope, Scott and families: I'm sorry to hear of your loss, know that you have all been in my thoughts and prayers since I heard from my Mom on Saturday. Shirley meant so much to so meany people, I can say that because of her impact in my life. Shirley was my youth leader and Sunday School Teacher for many years. Not to mention my Mom's close friend.
I have a relationship with God today because of the example that your Mother set for me as a young person. I never told her what she meant to me, I regret doing that - I would have told her how she always walked the walk, how kind and and loving she was to all she met,how she truly demonstrated a servant mentatlity - always giving of herself to the needs of the church and others, how she taught me so much about being a Christian, about God's love and forgiveness. I might have told her I missed her singing volume in church, I always thought it was a reflection of her passion for Jesus, I loved it!
One funny time with your Mom was when we were learning to recite the books of the bible...and I made the comment, well I know there are two Peters and one John...I was being serious, and Shirley about hurt herself from laughing so hard...it's a snapshot in my mind, I'll never forget.
Thanks for sharing Shirley with us, she was truly one of the greatest women I've ever known.##imported-begin##Susan Jenkins##imported-end##
