Susie Couch's Obituary
COUCH, Susie, age 94, passed away Monday, January 6, 2025.
Susie was a member of the First Church of God.
Caring, kind, extremely friendly, positive, outgoing, determined, independent, forgiving, and selfless, Susie was always busy and always concerned for the welfare of others. She was known for her hugs to friends, family, and strangers, and always told people she loved them. She greatly enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, canning vegetables, reading, attending garage sales and auctions, and lending a hand to her daughter. Her favorite reading material included the Kentucky Explorer, the Hazard daily newspaper in Kentucky, and historical material regarding Kentucky heritage. She also loved to sew and often created beautiful blankets, little towels, quilts, and dresses. She always looked forward to trips back to her birthplace in the area surrounding Hazard, Kentucky, which included visits to the family still living there. Those trips became Susie's fond tradition. She also enjoyed the tradition of visiting Florida, where she enjoyed the ocean and watched the beautiful sunsets. They often reminisced about her trips to Florida, which included memories of when they owned a place in Brooksville, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, in February of 2024; one son, Tim Couch; granddaughter, Cindy Couch; son-in-law, Tim Carter; her parents, Albert Gross and Rebecca Fugate; her brother, Martin Campbell, Henry Fugate, and Eugene Campbell; and her sisters, Idamae Eversole, Callie Bailey, Ollie Young, Verne Combs, and Ellen Campbell. She is survived by one son, Bobby Couch; daughter, Judy Carter; granddaughter, Kelly (Brad) Ihle; great-grandson, Braydon (Kaitlyn) Ihle; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
The family will receive friends from 1 - 2 PM on Tuesday, January 14, at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. The family would like to thank the Warren County Sheriff’s Department and the various K9 search and rescue organizations for all of their assistance.
