Sylvia E. Abney's Obituary
ABNEY, Sylvia E., age 78, of Lebanon, passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at Hospice of Butler and Warren Counties.
Sylvia retired from work at Mason Christian Village after 18 years of dedicated service to the company.
Outgoing and happy, she was often described as having a sweet personality. Along side her husband, she greatly enjoyed singing in their country band, The Country Ramblers. She also enjoyed karaoke and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She collected angels. Among many things, she will be remembered for her elaborate Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. Her cornbread dressing and potato salad were her most well known delectables. On many occasions, she was even paid to prepare her potato salad for others during the holidays.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Abney Sr. in January of this year; her parents James and Bessie Centers; and her brother Charles Centers. She is survived by her son John C. (Shirley) Abney Jr.; daughter Theresa Gamble; three grandchildren Thomas White, Rachele Fox, and Carissa (Steve) Roepke; six great grandchildren Manny, Dylan, Lucas, Taylor, Kenzie, and Cadence; and sister-in-law Sandy Centers.
