Timothy Lee Lindsay's Obituary
LINDSAY, Timothy "Tim" Lee, age 72, of Waynesville, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at Miami Valley Hospital.
Tim graduated from Miamisburg High School, class of '68. He retired from Dayton Metropolitan Housing Authority in 2000 after more than ten years of service.
Athletic and energetic, Tim immensely enjoyed jogging and would easily do a 10-mile jog most days. He was also a thrill seeker who loved sky diving, completing many jumps at the Red Stewart Airport in Waynesville. He enjoyed death-defying jumps so much that when he got sick and had to relearn how to walk, his goal was to be able to feel the adrenaline from jumping out of a plane again. His true passion was fishing, especially at Caesar's Creek Lake and a friend's pond in Waynesville. He focused on catching bluegill and crappy, but was happy to catch anything in the water.
Tim and his wife traveled regularly to Destin, Florida. While in Destin, he enjoyed chartering boats for deep-sea fishing. He became a very serious fisherman and loved this new aspect of the sport. Over time, he collected several big reels for deep-sea fishing. Tim and Barb also traveled to San Francisco, where they deeply appreciated the beauty of the surrounding land. He especially enjoyed admiring how the steep mountains would meet at that water's edge, and the way the sea lions frolicked about.
Tim had a very spiritual side, and his love for Jesus was present in all aspects of his life. When he was younger, he treasured being part of the Prison Ministry and Street Ministry, a ministry originally on Gettysburg in Dayton. This spiritual side gave Tim the strength to fight and give it his all no matter what life presented him. He was a survivor and a fighter. Tim also enjoyed vegetable gardening and could grow just about anything. His knowledge of gardening extended to knowing what plants would work best next to others. When he couldn't have a garden any longer, his family helped him with patio tomatoes so he could still enjoy the bounty of a harvest.
Watching college basketball and football was another pastime. He was a big UC fan and would also cheer on The Ohio State Buckeyes. As of late, he looked forward to playing the tile-matching game, Mahjong. He always wanted to make sure he could match all the tiles and found it quite challenging sometimes. One of his favorite traditions was the big family get-togethers. Each time the family would get together, they would cook the fresh fish he caught. Among many things, he will be remembered for the pride he had for his grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard L. Lindsay. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Barbara C. McCaslin- Lindsay; one son, Jason Lindsay; two grandsons, Samuel and Theodore; his mother, Josephine E. Lindsay one brother, Rick (Kate) Lindsay; one sister, Jayne (Mike) Blair; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved jack russells.
The family will receive friends from 11 – 1 PM Tuesday, October 18, at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Funeral services will be held immediately following at 1 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Jedadiah Wooldridge will be officiating. The burial will be 1 PM Wednesday, October 19, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Lima. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
