Timothy P. O'Kane's Obituary
O'KANE, Timothy P., age 69, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at Ohio Living Quaker Heights in Waynesville.
Timothy graduated from Carroll High School in Dayton, class of '71. He earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Wright State University in 1975. Upon graduating from WSU, he honorably served our country in the United States Navy. After returning home, he continued his education experience with Wright State University, earning a bachelor's degree in medical technology, graduating class of '82. He used his knowledge to work as a lab tech for the VA Medical Centers in Dallas, Texas; Huntington, West Virginia; and Cincinnati for seven years. In 1990, he became the lab tech for the Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati, where he retired in 2007. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Waynesville. In addition, he was an active member of Disabled American Veterans OH 115.
He was described as a highly intelligent, shy, gentle, sensitive gentleman with a dry sense of humor. He enjoyed all types of sports, especially Wright State University's basketball, Notre Dame Football, the Cincinnati Reds, and the Bengals. He loved watching old TV shows from the '60s and '70s, Star Trek, MeTV, and the Twilight Zone. Among many things, he will be remembered for how he loved and cared for his pets, his parents, and his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Linda, in April of 2022; his parents, John and Susan O'Kane; and one brother, Daniel J. O'Kane. He is survived by one brother, John (Elyse) O'Kane; niece, Colleen (Brian) Osborne; three nephews, Matthew (Megan) O'Kane, Tony (Alexandra) O'Kane, and Stephen (Jacqui) O'Kane; six great-nieces; and one great nephew.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM Wednesday, November 9, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Waynesville. Father James Manning will be officiating. The family will receive friends 9:30 - 10:30 AM Wednesday at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Burial will be at the Dayton VA Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wright State University Foundation; 3640 Colonel Glenn Hwy; Dayton, OH 45435, noting "Timothy O'Kane Memorial Fund" in the memo.
