Virginia S. Nicely's Obituary
NICELY, Virginia (Scott), age 93 of Kettering, passed away at her residence on Sun, Sept 15. Virginia was a 1938 graduate of Waynesville High School (she had perfect attendance and celebrated her 75th alumni dinner in May 2013). She was a member of Prince of Peace Church of the Brethren for over 55 years and was active with youth programs at church, Girl Scouts, and her daughters’ activities in the Kettering City Schools. Virginia worked at Frigidaire until she took on her favorite role of mother and grandmother. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Phillip Homer in 1987. She also was preceded by her parents Israel and Edna Scott, infant sister Anna Mae, siblings Israel Jr., Wayne, and Mary Bellman, along with son-in-law, John Rougier. She is survived by her 5 daughters: Raymonde Rougier (Phil Wells), Rebecca Childs, Roberta Nicely Balmain (Gene), Robin Nicely, and René Gindelberger (Brent), along with grandchildren Philippe Rougier, Erin Childs Crouch (Kevin), Phillip Gindelberger, and great grandson Isaac Rougier and step-grandchildren Dustin Childs and Kimberly Keith. Virginia is also survived by one sister Sarah (George) Bussinger, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special friends and neighbors: Juanita Hannah, Delores & Jerry Prass, Alice Minnich, Ann & Ted Bohachek, Jean & LaRon Burbridge, Brittany & Reggie Wilkinson, Al & Joanne Lucas. Over the last few years, we’ve had the opportunity to interact with many health care professionals who took wonderful care of our dear mom; thanks especially to Gentiva Hospice Staff (especially Carrie), Dr. Jim Derksen & staff, Julie Dabbelt, and Eva Reuter in addition to caregivers Pam Powers, Barb Barnett, and Mae Dalton and the Dalton family. Our mom carried on traditions for both the Scott and Nicely families, a dedicated caregiver to all and mom extraordinaire to her daughters. Virginia was a great supporter of all of her children and grandchildren throughout the years and encouraged them in all their endeavors, and especially enjoyed their involvement in music performances. She will be greatly missed but her memory will always stay with us as we carry forward her wishes and spirit. The family will receive friends on Fri, Sept 20, from 5-8pm at Prince of Peace Church of the Brethren (800 E. David Road, Kettering). Graveside services 10am Sat at Middle Run Cemetery, 3484 Middle Run Road in Spring Valley, with a celebration of life at 4pm back at the church. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home, Waynesville is serving the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Waynesville High School Alumni Association in Virginia’s memory (P.O. Box 1042, Waynesville, OH 45068); Prince of Peace Church youth program, and Heifer International (1 World Avenue, Little Rock, AR 72202 or heifer.org). Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
