William W. Burton's Obituary
BURTON, William W. aka "Bill” or “Walker” age 96, of Clarksville, passed away Wed. Sept. 20, 2017 at Lebanon Health Care Center. Bill retired in 1985 from Clinton Landmark in Wilmington. He was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church in Clarksville and greatly enjoyed attending church and church activities. He also enjoyed gardening and music, especially gospel and old country music. He was preceded in death by his wife Lorene in 2000; an infant son Willard; his parents Willie and Rutha Burton; two brothers Rowe Burton and Jack Burton; and three sisters Betty Burton, Bertha Guffery, and Flossie Rooks. He is survived by his son Liston Burton; daughter Mildred (Harry) Shelton; three grandchildren James Shelton, Shannon (Chris) Stanforth, and Matthew Shelton; six great grandchildren Darbie Eve, Jakeb Shelton, Nathan Eve, Jenna Shelton, Haley Shelton, and Tegan Shelton; and one sister Lillian Burton. Funeral services will be 1 PM Fri. Sept. 22 at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home, Waynesville. Burial will be in Clinton County Memory Gardens. Pastor Tom Chattin will be officiating.
