William P. Shinkle's Obituary
SHINKLE, William P., age 87, of Waynesville, passed away Fri. Oct. 19, 2018 at Laurelwood Senior Living in Dayton.
William graduated from Mariemont High School and shortly thereafter graduated with a B.S. Degree in Agriculture from Ohio State University. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, mostly stationed in Germany. More recently, he managed to go back over to Germany and visit the area he served in. He was involved in agriculture for nearly 50 years. During those years, he mainly worked at his farm, but also ran the feed mill in Corwin for about 10 years.
Somewhat reserved, William was extremely kind hearted and intelligent. During his earlier years, he enjoyed flying as a Private Pilot and taking the family on a yearly trip to Florida to visit his wife’s parents. He also enjoyed antique tractors, fishing, hunting, and any snacks that were sweet. He was an active supporter of the Warren County 4H and a big fan of the OSU Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals.
He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia in 2017 and his parents Odie and Ruth Shinkle. He is survived by three children Dave (Abby) Shinkle, Doug (Stefanie) Shinkle, and Rebecca (Daniel) Champagne; eight grandchildren Brooke, Tanner, Wyatt, and Riley Jo Shinkle, Aly (Carter) Schulte, Daniel Shinkle, and Stephanie and Zachary Howe; two great grandchildren Paige Schulte and Skylar Murcar; and one sister Betty (Ron) Weber.
The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Fri. Oct. 26 at Stubbs-Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Sat. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery, Corwin. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
