Zora R. Boggs-Dyas' Obituary
BOGGS- DYAS, Zora R., age 73, of Franklin and formerly of Waynesville, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2022, at the Hospice of Warren and Butler Counties.
Zora worked at Randall Textron Corp. in Wilmington for 30 years, retiring in 2009. She was known for being a hard worker and enjoyed the fellowship of family and friends. She was also known in her family as the picture taker, always having a camera ready to capture what was happening around her. She enjoyed being outside, taking care of flowers, doing yard work, and tending to her garden. She regularly took a week off of work and helped her dad in his garden, specifically picking half-runner green beans. She would regularly race him down the rows to see who could pick the most.
Family and friends always looked forward to her famous chicken and dumplings, which always went first at family reunions. During the holidays, her peanut butter fudge was the gift everyone wanted. Her two boys would fight over her deviled eggs. She was always a scratch cook, so her recipes could only be passed down by cooking with her.
After the passing of her first husband, she migrated to Franklin. She remarried a WWII veteran and joined the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, AMVETS, American Legion, and the VFW. With her husband being a veteran, she enjoyed volunteering for any event that would benefit the local clubs and community. She often assisted and even called the numbers for bingo and other events. She made many friends and enjoyed their visits to her back patio for evening chats.
As she gained more great-grandchildren, she was known for playing on the floor and being active with them. Among many things, she will be remembered for her dedication and love to her husbands, her two boys, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her community and family.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ronnie E. Boggs, in 1993; her parents, John and Carrie Moore; two brothers, J.B. (Elsie) Moore and Roy (Rita) Moore; four sisters, Nola (Art) Vest, Anna (Larvis) Peace, Barbara (Larry) Goins, and Lorraine Moore. She is survived by her husband, Harold Dyas; two sons, Stephen (Jenni) Moore and Bryan (Cindy) Boggs; five grandchildren, Jonathan Clark, Erika (Matt) Metcalf, Brandi (Kipp) Spence, Bryan Boggs II, and Sudie Boggs; five great-grandchildren, Lindsey, Levi, and Layna Spence, and Nora and Gracelynn Metcalf; one brother James (Sharon) Moore; three sisters, Julia Elizabeth Bailey, Mary (George) Hollars, and Galena (Richard) Abel; numerous nieces and nephews. Also, surviving are Harold’s two sons, Mark (Teri) and Steve (Joyce) Dyas, as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, December 31, at Dodds Pentecostal Church in Waynesville. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery in Corwin. Davy Boggs and Jay Osborne will be officiating. The family will receive friends 6 - 8 PM Friday at the church. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. If desired, contributions may be made to the Hospice of Butler and Warren Counties and the Dodds Pentecostal Church. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
