Dave and his family have been part of our lives for 45 years and many ways have paralleled throughout the years. Every time I try to write here, my eyes fill with tears. Dave's serious side sometimes seemed to always break out into a laugh. "Now Tish". He would look down for a moment. He had a look too! His head turn slightly sideways. I only got that look once. He seemed to always win controversial differences, except one with me. Every time we meet, that topic somehow comes up. The finger in the ear! I won that one. Dave was there if you needed him. He is a friends friend.
To know Dave is to love him, and we do.
As we grew up on Clover Drive we always enjoyed the visits by the Wilson family and the “poker” games us kids would play and some we would invent. Playing in the garage for buttons, bolts, nuts and screws on rainy days and playing football on on days it wasn’t raining. Cousin Dave and I didn’t stay in touch much as we aged but when we did get together the conversations could start right where we left off the last time we were together. He will be missed by all who knew him.
I guess my favorite memory is Mr. Wilson speaking to me very harshly about my bad choices, I cried like crazy because he cared, I will never forget it, meant the world to me. Tons of love and prayers.
The memories start many years ago when the Wilson family came into my life. When I met Brad our first stop was at his mom and dads, and Dave and Paula were there. I got the full Wilson experience all at once! I was welcomed into the family immediately with love and caution that conversations good get rather loud at times. The Wilson brothers were certainly a force to be reckoned with. Dave was a good husband, father, grandfather and friend. He stood by us as Brad's health deteriorated, always a strong shoulder to lean on. He made us laugh, argue and poke fun at each other at times when all we wanted to do was sit and cry. His loss will be felt by all who knew him, and we are better for having Dave in our lives. My heart breaks for his children and grandchildren, I wish there were words to explain our feelings and thoughts. We just hold on to the memories and try to honor him as we lead our lives. Will always remember the times Uncle Buel and family came to Tennessee to visit. Remember my family visits to Ohio and various family reunions over the years.
Having cousins is an awesome experience.
