Beautiful tribute to Doug
I worked at the City of Centerville when Doug was there. We talked a lot, and I remember when he built a new house, and his wife opening a store in Waynesville. I think the store was Country Joy, and he tried to get everyone to shop there (I did!). Doug was such a nice man and a gentleman. I always thought he looked 20 years younger, but he didn’t have any “secrets” to his “fountain of youth”!!!! He will be missed but now he knows what God looks like.. Charleen Mehaffie Flick

Doug was a gentle, humble servant. He loved God and his family. He was a faithful husband and he cared deeply for his children and grandchildren as well as his extended family. Doug was very handy and liked to work with his hands. He was easy to talk with. He truly enjoyed his pond and the fish, shooting, reading and NASCAR. He will be sorely missed.

Mike and I are so sorry for your loss of Doug. He was such a nice and gentle spirit. We loved talking with him and seeing you two together. You set a great example for the younger generation to stay strong in your marriage and respect each other. Seeing you two work together down in Waynesville at your store was such an example of what team work is all about in a couple. I know he would have done anything for you and your family. Such a great guy he will be truly missed. We have been praying for weeks and thinking about you both. You have our deepest sympathy and sorrow in this time.

Growing up on the same road and attending the same church is a pleasant memory for me. I babysat for Doug and Joyce a few times. The hardest part of living by them was trying to sneak past their dog . She was blind but could hear a snake crawling past. I was chased by her several times. But inside the house with children, she was a wonderful dog. Beautiful couple is Doug and Joyce. I remember them fondly. Mary Barber Bicknell
