Gary Lee Campbell's Obituary
CAMPBELL, Gary Lee, age 60, of Oregonia and a lifelong resident of Warren County, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.
Gary was a 1981 graduate of Lebanon High School and the Warren County Career Center. He was a driven businessman that absolutely loved what he did for a living. After spending 39 years in the lawn and garden business with Buchanan Power Equipment, he took on the opportunity to open Miami Valley Power Equipment in Corwin in 2019. He proudly owned and operated that business up until his passing. He was very active in the Warren County community and participated in several organizations. He was the past president of the Lebanon Rotary Club, a member of the Lebanon Masonic Lodge #26, and the vice president of the Warren County Farm Bureau. He was also a board member for both the Lebanon Youth Baseball and Softball Association and the Lebanon High School Athletic Boosters. He was an inductee of the Warren County Career Center Alumni Hall of Fame. He attended the 4U Cowboy Gathering Church in Lebanon.
When he was younger, he showed dairy cattle in the 4-H program at the Warren County Fair. He also enjoyed participating in the Demolition Derby. After he started a family, he enjoyed coaching his girls in softball. As he got older, he looked forward to when deer season started and appreciated the thrill that the hunting season provided him. As a gentleman that would do anything for anyone, he was considered one the easiest-going, generous, selfless men you could meet. He loved being a family man and relished every memory with his loved ones. One of his favorite hobbies included boating at Lake Cumberland. He liked it so much that it was a tradition every 4th of July for his family and numerous friends to go to the lake, have fun together, and relax. He also made Christmas special for his family, from his desire to watch Christmas Vacation, his favorite movie, starting on Thanksgiving night and then again almost every night until Christmas. Every year, he would get the girls a surprise Christmas present. He also enjoyed firing something up in the kitchen, where he was an excellent cook. The family even nicknamed him the "Swedish Chef." Over the years, he collected antique tractors and John Deere memorabilia. He was also an avid NASCAR fan. Among many things, he will be remembered for being a proud businessman and an incredibly loving and caring husband, father, papaw, son, and brother.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ron Campbell, and one brother, Brett Campbell. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Anita (Hutt); his two daughters, Christine Baker (Sean Haver) and Bethany (AJ) Schappacher; two grandchildren, Madysen Baker and Reagan Schappacher; his mother, Nancy Campbell (Buchanan); and one brother, Ron Campbell.
The family will receive friends from 10 AM - 1 PM Friday, May 19, 2023, at the Warren County Event Center at the Fairgrounds in Lebanon. A celebration of life service will be at 1 PM Friday at the Event Center. Sam Garner will be officiating the services. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. In honor of Gary's giving spirit, the family is providing chemotherapy treatment bags to local cancer patients.
