Ivalene F. Kingan's Obituary
KINGAN, Ivalene F., age 98, of Waynesville, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Optimized Senior Living in Lebanon.
Ivalene worked 30 years for the federal government in support of and inspired by the events of WWII. In addition, following her official retirement from the government, she worked an additional 20 years for Kroger in Lebanon. A devout Christian and follower of God’s word, Ivalene was a faithful member of the Corwin Pentecostal Church. She read her Bible regularly and wore it out from the many times she read it.
Family-oriented, helpful, loving, caring, and independent, Ivalene was extremely generous and giving throughout her life. Born in Kentucky, she purchased and delivered Christmas gifts to children in need from the area where she grew up and where her family is from. She was always up for an adventure and traveled throughout the United States and Europe. She had a tradition of visiting her niece, Debbie, in Florida, which was one of her favorite adventures. She loved visiting the Everglades and taking airboat rides. One year during an adventure into the Everglades, she found herself in waste high water, exciting concern by her son that she could get bitten by an alligator or a snake. She also enjoyed going hunting for clams during her Florida trips. Ivalene will always be remembered for her love of dining out and for her delicious cooking. Her fried chicken and Spanish spaghetti were her favorite delectables that her family will never forget. She will also be remembered for her love of collecting dolls.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, in 1977; her daughter, Karen Kingan; one great-grandson, Chance; her parents, Eli and Mattie Reynolds; four brothers, Warren, Fred, Acy, and William; and five sisters, Grace, Marge, Francis, Boots, and Sharon. She is survived by two sons, Roger (Sharon) Kingan and Dana (Dawn) Kingan; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; her sister, Peggy (Mark) Ramsey; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many friends. She is also survived by her church family and special friend, Betty Cook-Garrett, who Ivalene loved dearly.
The family will receive friends from 11 AM - 1 PM on Thursday, January 9, at the Corwin Pentecostal Church. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 1 PM on Thursday at the church, followed by burial in Miami Cemetery, Corwin. Phillip Hoskins will be officiating the services. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. If desired, contributions may be made to the Corwin Pentecostal Church. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
