Friends
Growing up, if your lucky,
you make many friends.
In life, true friends are few.
It’s those friends you trust to
hold that rope as you scale
that cliff.
To have your back as
you run from those junk yard dogs.
Fishing on Wolf Creek at 3am,
Hunting the fields as dawn breaks.
Taking your side when the shit hits the fan
Making sure your home safe when
you’ve had too much.
Over the years we tend to drift apart
Start our own families, work different jobs
Move out of reach or consumed
by life’s challenges
I think often of those friends
often through the years past.
Times we had good and bad
their connection and effects they
had on my life.
Praying their lives are blessed like mine.
Staying in touch isn’t always easy
Be assured, I’ll be there if need be.
Always on my mind, always in my heart.
