James "Jamie" E. Rowland Jr.'s Obituary
ROWLAND, James “Jamie” E. Jr., age 47, of Lebanon passed away Friday, February 21, 2020 at the Atrium Medical Center in Middletown.
Jamie graduated from Lebanon High School in 1991. He officially retired from the highway department of the Warren County Engineers Office in 2010 after 22 years of service with the county.
Outgoing, caring, generous, kind, strong, tough, and independent, Jamie could be stubborn but he had a big heart. He was quite the activist for animals over the years and couldn’t resist giving a helping hand when the opportunity arose, even feeding one hungry dog his lunch during his lunch hour one day. He really enjoyed his job and took a great deal of pride in his work operating heavy equipment and performing duties such as grading, excavating, and bridge work. It has been said that “if Jamie was on a piece of machinery, he was in Heaven.” He also enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, being outdoors, and working on vehicles and ATV’s. When he went boating, it was usually done in the manner that scared the other boaters and passengers and at full throttle. Special memories that will not be forgotten were the WEBN Fireworks, where he took his wife on one of their first dates, and the many trips to Gatlinburg over the years. Among many things, he will be remembered for the way he loved to sit around a bonfire behind his house with friends for hours.
He was preceded in death by his father James “Earl” Rowland. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Corinna; son Hunter Rowland; mother Betty Rowland; brother Kevin Rowland; and nephew Kale Rowland.
The family will receive friends 12 PM - 3 PM Saturday at the funeral home. A celebration of life service will be held 3 PM Saturday, February 29 at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. As a result of Jamie’s concern and care for animals and his desire to assist ASPCA, if contributions are desired, they may be made to the local agency via The Warren County Humane Assoc., P.O. Box 313, Lebanon, OH 45036. The family encourages you to share a story of Jamie and post at either www.stubbsconner.com or drop in the memory basket at the funeral home during the celebration of life service. It is the family’s wish to read these stories in the coming days.
