It should also be known that due to the five plus decades of honorable dedication to the Waynesville American Legion Post 615. The membership voted unanimously to be renamed as: American Legion Paul D. Trimble Post 615. Paul was also a Life Member of the Marine Corps League.
Personally I have never known anyone more dedicated to helping other people, never asking for anything in return. Paul was one of the “larger than life” people. I swear he knew everyone in the county and beyond. If he couldn’t help, or he didn’t know the answer / solution to just about anything. Paul knew who did. Problems got solutions, questions got correct answers and things got done when Paul was involved. Throughout his sickness, Paul would keep asking me how I was doing and if there was anything I needed, or what could he do for me? Selfless to the end, or as he would always say, “Semper Fi, hoorah”! Always faithful indeed. He remained positive and fearless as his usual self. He was always smiling, telling me funny stories and jokes. He called me a “swabbie” and I called him “jar head”. We never stopped joking around. I think he was trying to console me right until the end. Paul was never afraid of conflict. The truth is Paul was wise and so damn nice, it was hard not see his way of things pretty much every time. Truthfully he was an amazing person, loyal friend to all, a great mentor, and a selfless champion for anyone needing help. I will never forget him and do my best to be the kind of person he was the rest of my life. Sincere condolences to all of his family.
