Paul Dale Trimble's Obituary
TRIMBLE, Paul Dale, age 78, of Waynesville, passed away peacefully Monday, October 17, 2022, at his home after a seven-month battle with cancer.
Paul graduated from Lemon Monroe High School, class of ’62, and exemplified a life of service to others. A week after graduation, he joined the United States Marine Corps and served our country honorably as a Sargent during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, he worked for GM, where he retired in 1994 after 28 years. Paul was a dedicated member of the Waynesville American Legion Post 615 for 53 years, serving in many capacities. He never thought that helping serve the local veterans would become a full-time occupation, but it did. In addition, he worked for the Warren County Veterans Association from 1968 until his second retirement in 2018.
Paul was a life member and past Commander of the Waynesville American Legion Post 615. He was also a life member of the Marine Corps League, chosen in Reservoir Detachment 968. He served as the past State President of the Ohio State Association of Veteran Services Commissioners in 1997 and 1998. In addition, he served on the Warren County Council for ten consecutive years and five terms. He helped found the Warren County Children’s Foster Christmas party. He was Chairman of the Foster Children’s party and the Warren County Commissioners League for 40 years each. Paul also joined the 40 and 8 Honor Society of the American Legion, which supported child welfare.
Good-hearted and hardworking, Paul would give the shirt off his back to help anyone, and often times he was generous to a fault. When he was younger, he played in the Waynesville American Legion baseball team. He thoroughly enjoyed watching sports of all sorts, especially football and baseball. Many times, he would sit with two or three televisions and radios going so he could catch all the games. He always enjoyed cats and dogs and would gladly welcome them into the home. During Christmas, he especially enjoyed sneaking treats to his daughter’s dog.
As a young man, he also loved to swim and took lifesaving courses on water safety. These classes ended up helping him save a child’s life from the Little Miami River when the child fell out of a canoe. During hunting season, he enjoyed tracking down rabbits. Each year, he would take some time to rest and relax by spending his time out in the beauty of Caesar Creek Lake mushroom hunting. He enjoyed listening to the birds, the peacefulness, and the quietness. It seemed that no one seemed to bother him during that time. He was most proud of his beautiful children and grandchildren. Over his lifetime, he had many great experiences, lots of memories, and he loved each and every one of them.
He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Ben Spilman; parents, Ralph and Allene Trimble; and brother, Donald L. Trimble. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Doris J. Trimble; two sons, Mark C. (Courtney) Kehoe and Paul D. (Gloria) Trimble; one daughter, Mary Spilman; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grand fur babies; sister-in-law, Janet Trimble; and three nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11 AM – 2 PM Saturday, October 29, at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Memorial services will be 2 PM Saturday at the funeral home. Life celebrant Katie Mackoway will be officiating. Burial will be at Miami Cemetery in Corwin. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hospice of Cincinnati.
