I met Ralph Crockett in 1989, the day after moving into our home down the road from the Crockett's home. He was as friendly a person as I have ever met, and he was essential in teaching this city kid how to survive life in the country.
Ralph taught me a wide range of essential country-living skills, from tractor repair to septic system handling to planting dates for every crop grown in Ohio.
Every summer, he wanted nothing more than to share from the bounty his garden produced. Every day, we would see him out there, tending his garden with love and patience, and his tending paid off in a cornucopia of riches. He loved feeding his friends.
Ralph was a good soul.
