Ray Lamb's Obituary
LAMB, Ray, age 85, a proud citizen of Corwin, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2021, at his residence with family by his side. He was born November 5, 1935, to Lewis and Mary Lamb in Corwin.
Ray worked 53 years hauling water under the name of Ray Lamb Water Service and later by Clearwater Hauling. He loved his work and he took great pride in the relationships and social life that came along with it. He was a faithful member and participant of the Corwin Pentecostal Church for most of his life. He served as a Wayne Township Trustee for 12 years and 14 years on the Village of Corwin Council, whereby a proclamation was made in 2013 for his devotion and passion to his beloved Corwin, designating June 8 of that year, Ray Lamb Day. Additionally and in appreciation of assisting the fire department with water during fires, he was named an honorary member of the Wayne Township Fire Department.
Caring, loving, supportive, and outgoing, Ray loved people, and people loved Ray. Known for his signature wave, he was friendly to everyone, regardless of whether he was driving his water truck or visiting people in the community. He was co-founder and major supporter of the Corwin Tractor Show, which he always looked forward to each year. He appreciated and collected tractors, both full-size antique and toy versions. When his kids were younger, he enjoyed family camping trips to Lake Cumberland, but he always insisted on getting back to Corwin for work and church. In addition and during the ’70s, he was labeled the #1 fan of the basketball team at Waynesville High School, even to the point of having his own place to stand on the court during games. He also enjoyed the tradition of getting together with family during the Lewis and Mary Lamb Christmas reunions. Among many things, he will be remembered for his enjoyment of pepping up a room by singing spirited and uplifting songs, which he did often for any occasion.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Freda, almost to the minute on the same day last year; his parents; three brothers Earl, Boyd, and Eddie Lamb; and seven sisters Orline Estes, Stella Preston, Marie Isaacs, Bessie Moore Fouch, Bernice Lamb, Louise Brixey, and Maxine Lamb. He is survived by his daughter Tami (Jim) Linville; son Craig Lamb; three grandchildren Renee Wallace, Jason (Vanessa) Linville, and Brandon (Kristy) Lamb; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters Elsie Stephens and Evaline Fairchild; one brother Harold (Jean) Lamb; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and close friends.
Funeral services will be held 12:30 PM Friday, July 23 at Corwin Pentecostal Church. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery, Corwin. David Rose and Don Ingram will be officiating the services. The family will receive friends 4 - 8 PM Thursday at the church. If desired and in Ray’s memory, contributions may be made to the Miami Cemetery Association, 6379 Corwin Ave., Waynesville, Ohio 45068. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
