Robert "Bob" A. Kanthak's Obituary
KANTHAK, Robert "Bob" A. age 83, of Waynesville and formerly of Lake Hartwell, GA, passed away Sat. April 15, 2017. Bob was a Korean Conflict Army veteran. An architectural engineer, he was instrumental in the design and construction of many GM factories around the country, via the realty division (formerly Argonaut). In his early years, he was a good baseball player, even acquiring a tryout for the Detroit Tigers. Throughout his life, he enjoyed hunting, golfing, fishing, and boating. He enjoyed his retirement and community of friends at Lake Hartwell in Georgia. He was also active in the American Legion in Hartwell and assisted with several Haiti projects with Habitat For Humanity. He was preceded in death by his parents Adolph and Irene Kanthak and his sister Nancy Stevens. He is survived by his son Rob (Julie) Kanthak; daughter Kathleen Fee; five grandchildren Rob Kanthak, Jennifer Kanthak, Phillip Kanthak, Kimberly Fee, and David Fee; four great grandchildren Haley, Breanna, Aaron, and Piper. A celebration of life service will be held 6 PM Fri. April 21 at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home, Waynesville. Dr. Dan Flory will be celebrating Bob's life. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the celebration service Fri. at the funeral home. If desired, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
