Whit Edward Pennington's Obituary
PENNINGTON, Whit Edward, age 67, of Oregonia, passed away Sunday, July 11, 2021 at his residence. He was born October 28, 1953 to Ralph and Opal Pennington.
Whit graduated from Lebanon High School, class of ’72. He retired from United/CenturyLink Telephone Company after 30 years of service of being a lineman and cable splicer. He was a member of Dodd’s Pentecostal Church of God in Waynesville.
With a quick sense of humor and being very witty, he enjoyed heckling his friends and family. He was an avid hunter and especially liked hunting deer. He appreciated the simpler things in life and greatly enjoyed tending to the farm, working with his dogs, and watching things grow. Every year he was well known for his huge garden that he would tend after, which was always overflowing with cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes, and green beans.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 48.5 years, Charlene; three daughters Rachael (Richard) McElligott, Carly Pennington, and Lindsay (William Roberts) Pennington; four grandchildren Whitney McElligot, Caitlin Tye McElligott, Brooklyn McElligott, and Caleb Pennington; and one brother John (Delores) Pennington.
Funeral services will be held 4 PM Sunday, July 18 at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Rev. Kelly Rogers will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 – 4 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
